Pros

None - aside from being remote.

Cons

I am traumatized by my experience with AdsGency. I initially agreed to work for a 1 week-trial but decided to not continue after just 2.5 days. The $18/hr rate that they lowballed me with for the week was just not worth it. Just a few things that happened in a span of 2.5 days: 1. Founder calls me and repeatedly messages me at 9pm and 11pm at night, then again at exactly 8am. Zero respect for your personal life. 2. Founder frequently starts voice calls with you on Slack with no notice and expects you to pick up immediately. I missed her call and then called her back within 2 min once, and then she asked for my personal number because she "has trouble reaching me on slack". 3. Said "are you having an attitude with me right now?", when I let her know I did not want to continue the trial period. 4. Picking apart every minute of the work that I tracked so I could get paid. She said she needed to consult with her advisor to make sure that the work I wrote down actually took as long as I said it did. Then wanted me to resend documentation of every item so she could make sure. I don't even care if she doesn't end up paying me the $18/hr. Its just ridiculous being treated as if I was trying to actively scam her. I've dealt with difficult management before, but none as blatantly unprofessional, suspicious, and unapologetically toxic as the founder for this company is. I can't even imagine what working full time here would be like if this was just the first 2 days. Imagine actually doing something wrong or having an off day here. Don't even waste your time interviewing here.

Pros

I was able to work remotely.

Cons

This was by far the most unprofessional, traumatic, and chaotic environment I’ve ever been in. Startups are naturally a bit hectic, and I have the upmost respect for leaders who have to manage these companies. That said, this CEO was uniquely amateurish, unethical, and inexperienced in working with other professional staff. For example, she pressured and coerced me to mislead a client by changing my LinkedIn date of employment. Why? To make it seem I worked there longer than I actually had. She had unrealistic demands and frequently disrespected staff openly in different mediums. CEO demanded weekend calls after 11 PM and did not respect any concept of work life balance. CEO would constantly undermine team on meetings in front of clients, at one point telling one of my peers to “shut up” on a meeting. High staff turnover happens here for a reason. Compensation was laughable; she wanted the team to be paid based on performance, excluding market conditions, meaning you could end up work for severely below market value if macroeconomic conditions didn’t work out. I was warned about this company and foolishly thought the concerns were overblown. Regrettably, I was wrong and the cons here more than justify seeking another opportunity for at a professional startup. Respectfully, she is unsuitable to run this organization and I would kindly recommend professionals who have self respect to truly consider if they are willing to put up with her behavior for a paycheck.

Pros

No pros other than feeling sympathetic towards other teammates

Cons

Where do I start - For starters, NO COMPENSATION AT ALL. Promises of sponsorship but highly doubtful I joined Adsgency AI for a trial period and quickly experienced one of the most disorganized, unprofessional environments I’ve encountered in my career. Within a single week, I was expected to deliver 20–30 pull requests per day on a completely unfamiliar codebase(which btw is a huge mess. the people that wrote have all left) with zero onboarding support. When I explained that I was taking time to understand the system to make meaningful contributions, I was met with disrespect and pushback. I was repeatedly messaged late at night (9–11 PM), called without notice, and expected to be online around the clock. Personal boundaries were disregarded, and there was a clear lack of basic people skills or empathy. Despite working full days, contributing code, and fixing multiple issues, I was asked to “prove” I had worked by sending local commit history and zipping files—just to get paid for time I had already spent. Instead of being treated as a collaborator, I was treated with suspicion and micromanaged from day one. If you value your time, self-respect, or mental health, I recommend avoiding this company. The culture is toxic, the expectations are unrealistic, and the leadership lacks the professionalism required to build a functional team—let alone a scalable business.
