Pros

Work/life balance, flexibility, remote work

Cons

It's hard to put into words how poorly run this company is. The CEO and CFO (his brother) are two frat guys who got lucky riding the coattails of a successful company in adtech company in Chicago. If that partnership ever goes away, AdAction will not exist. The other two VPs have absolutely no idea what they are doing and are directly responsible for several business failures (including layoffs) because there was no strategy or business plan. Several top employees left because the person running SEO is the absolute worst and they still kept him on, even after laying off the entire team that makes his job necessary. It makes absolutely no sense. This company has no plan, no direction, and treats loyal employees like afterthoughts. They have not learned to pivot from Covid and refuse to hire outside the states of Texas and Colorado, which is why they cannot attract top talent. Their pay rates are well below market because the CEO's brother doesn't want to pay people what market rates are.

Scary Culture and Product

Pros

Work life balance is pretty good, benefits are good, pay is average

Cons

Very fratty, non-professional culture. Close to half of the staff was laid off in the late 18 months, most without any warning. Leadership doesn't have a sold direction or vision. CEO picks favorites. Product is very sketchy, lots of ad fraud s overlooked.

Pros

Offers days off when the company is performing well.

Cons

My department was led by 2 who knew very little about launching and growing products (VP of Product Strategy & VP of SEO). We started with 3 very different products and 1 product was not executing as planned—so, they decided to cut it out of our portfolio and lay off 2 managers who did a lot hard work to build this product. Later on, I should have seen the signs when not 1 but 2 of my supervisors decided to leave the company because these VPs were impossible to work with. We had 2 products left in our portfolio and when 1 was going downhill they laid off even more employees, including myself. Before this happened, they gave us all the impression that if this product would not pan out, we would ALL turn our attention to our last standing product. It was a straight-up lie. I was promised job security and I was a fool to believe that. AND I heard of even more lay offs in their mobile app advertising department after my time there. It’s an extremely volatile environment and can’t be trusted — stay away!
