Pros

I enjoyed the opportunity to learn and expand my experience in a different area of this field. Throughout my time with the company, there were ongoing discussions regarding training, certification opportunities, and potential career advancement. I brought extensive credentials and a proven ability to manage projects independently and effectively, without requiring close supervision. I also valued the positive relationships I built with my coworkers and appreciated the company sponsored Thanksgiving.

Cons

One of the most challenging aspects of the experience was the disconnect between employee concerns and management responsiveness. Requests related to professional development, workplace flexibility, and support during personal or weather related emergencies often lacked resolution. This created frustration, particularly for remote employees who were still expected to maintain a significant office presence despite difficult circumstances. I also found that employee contributions were not always recognized or rewarded in a manner that reflected their impact. Throughout my career, I have been accustomed to organizations that acknowledge strong performance through clear advancement opportunities, bonuses, or other forms of recognition. Despite consistently delivering results, supporting team operations, and contributing to office management efforts, I did not feel that my compensation or career growth aligned with the value I was providing. Ultimately, I chose to pursue an opportunity with another organization that demonstrated a stronger commitment to professional growth, followed through on its commitments, and offered compensation that more accurately reflected my experience, contributions, and market value. While I appreciated my coworkers and many aspects of the workplace, the lack of meaningful advancement and recognition made it difficult to envision a long term future with the company.

Pros

Many talented employees across the organization were dedicated, knowledgeable, and willing to help one another. The company also provided exposure to a variety of operational challenges, acquisitions, and process improvement opportunities that allowed employees to develop broad experience and problem-solving skills.

Cons

During my tenure, the company repeatedly acquired new businesses and expanded operations while existing teams were already stretched thin. This often resulted in employees taking on significantly increased workloads, followed by layoffs when business conditions changed. Advancement opportunities frequently appeared inconsistent, with personal relationships and internal politics sometimes carrying more weight than performance or results. Outside of the Houston headquarters, employee engagement and team-building efforts were minimal. The return-to-office initiative was particularly frustrating. Employees were required to return to physical offices, only to spend most of the day on Zoom calls with colleagues in other locations or even within the same office. The policy created additional commuting costs and reduced flexibility without providing meaningful collaboration benefits. Benefits were expensive relative to employee compensation, and raises and bonuses were infrequent. Communication from leadership often felt disconnected from the experiences and financial realities of employees. The company employs many talented and dedicated people, but long-term success would require greater investment in employees, more consistent leadership decisions, and a stronger commitment to rewarding performance.

Pros

What I appreciated most was the company's commitment to its employees. Management recognized the importance of work-life balance and was willing to work with individual schedules when needed. This created a supportive and stable environment where employees felt respected, valued, and able to succeed both professionally and personally

Cons

My experience with the company changed significantly after a leadership transition. Under previous management, my contributions were recognized, and there was a strong emphasis on supporting employees and maintaining a healthy work-life balance. After the change, I felt that the workplace culture shifted, and despite being one of the top-producing members of my team, my accomplishments were not consistently acknowledged. I also experienced challenges regarding attendance and leave-related matters, including situations involving family bereavements and a natural disaster that affected my ability to work. Over time, I felt that the increasing workload and limited opportunities for recognition and advancement no longer aligned with my professional goals. As a result, I decided to pursue opportunities with organizations whose culture and values better matched my expectations for employee support, growth, and recognition.
