Local leadership does the best they can

Pros

Local management does the best they can against the incompetence of global leadership. Salary is best in area Coworkers are mostly great, but there are always 1-2 drama llamas

Cons

Global leadership of the R&D division is a joke. They’re scattered, don’t communicate well, and try to micromanage from different continents. Salary is dependent on department, and although best in area, still below market value. Upkeep and maintenance is a joke. The team does the best they can with minimal resources allocated to them. Safety culture mistakes conversation and action for effectiveness. Very reactive instead of proactive. Blanket dictates for safety rules that ignore specific situations where the new safety equipment could actually be a hazard. This has been repeated multiple times in the past few years. Business units dictate direction of research and product development instead of letting R&D drive innovation to position ADM on the cutting edge, instead we just try to do things cheaper than competitors who developed products.

Shady Leadership

Pros

Some great coworkers Decent work life balance overall (unless leadership wanted something then it needed to be done immediately regardless of the day/time)

Cons

Leadership blatantly lies - convinces you of one thing then pulls the rug out from under you once they get what they want out of you CFO under investigation for fraud - not surprised and unfortunately that culture is still there Very little room for growth Any type of disability/medical/family accommodation they will hold against you Overall culture of lying - experienced this across many departments. Leadership tells you what they think you want to hear, then you ask them to follow through and suddenly they can’t help you.

Cons

Plant leadership is made up of engineers. No HR person on site. Managers let very toxic people work without recourse.

Pros

You have the opportunity to see the direct impact of your work across different locations and interact with people from a wide range of backgrounds. The role also allows you to build strong, genuine relationships with colleagues working alongside you day to day.

Cons

There is a noticeable lack of transparency within the organization. Communication from senior team members can be inconsistent, and at times feels misaligned with their actions. Recognition and positive feedback are limited, particularly outside of established internal circles. The company’s technology and processes can be outdated and overly complex, which can hinder efficiency. Additionally, the organizational structure is quite hierarchical, and there appears to be limited initiative from leadership to drive meaningful change. The role often extends beyond typical analyst responsibilities, requiring significant emotional labor in addition to technical work.
