InterDigital is more than just interested in wireless digital telecommunications. The company develops and licenses circuitry designs, software, and other technology using CDMA (code-division multiple access) and other wireless communications standards. InterDigital is also developing semiconductors and software to enable voice and data transmissions in mobile phones and portable computing devices. Top customers LG Electronics and Samsung Electronics make up 40% of sales but its technology patents are also licensed to Acer, Apple, HTC, RIM, and to many other makers of chips, software, and telecom equipment. The company generates about 80% of its revenues from Asia, where cell phones are manufactured.
