Cedara Software is the power behind the MRI. The company makes medical imaging software and support systems that it either licenses or custom develops for other medical products and imaging companies. Cedara's products present, analyze, and store medical images that have been created through magnetic resonance imaging, digital X-rays, and nuclear scanning. Its Surgical Navigation Specialists (SNS) subsidiary makes software that helps doctors navigate a patient's anatomy during surgery. Clients include GE Medical, Hitachi Medical, and Toshiba. In 2005 Cedara was acquired by Merge Healthcare (formerly Merge Technologies) for $393 million in stock.
