About the role:
Based in Hokitika and reporting to our Automation Lead, we are looking for an experienced operations technology and factory Automation Engineer (permanent full-time) who is a strong problem solver and a great team-player with a depth of knowledge in automation & process instrumentation systems, OT networks and process control software. You will be well versed in the installation, maintenance and configuration of industrial control Servers & networks, have a background in SQL and data manipulation for reporting with focus on optimising plant efficiency.
Responsibilities include:
- The design, installation, setup, programming and testing of automation systems, infrastructure, processes & machinery
- Ability to configure use and maintain OT Virtual Systems (specifically vSphere clusters with ESXi Hosts and SANS).
- Have Network technology skill and ability to setup secure industrial Network Platforms (Cisco specific) as required.
- Capability to use and program Rockwell and Honeywell systems are preferred.
- Have Strong knowledge of Wonderware/AVEVA InTouch and AVEVA System Platform to do fault-finding and upgrades.
- Optimising plant efficiency by minimising downtime and minimising the R&M costs.
- Contributing to process improvement projects, including designing and developing new control systems, as well as overseeing the maintenance and modification of existing systems
- Assisting in the planning of Capital Projects and working with the Site Engineers and Contractors to deliver on projects
- Liaising with the Electrical team on site work and projects
- Assisting with the management of asset reliability risks
- Ensuring strong relationships are built and maintained across the business
- Ensuring a focus on best practice Health & Safety and quality
- Creating and maintaining documentation and manuals for functional projects.
- Keeping abreast of the latest developments in industrial automation technology
Skills and Experience:
- A relevant degree or equivalent in automation, process engineering (instrumentation) or Operation Technology systems.
- Previous experience in the food manufacture experience, experience in dairy is preferable.
- Experience with AVEVA System Platform & VMWare and Cisco networking preferable.
- Additional training in: SQL, PLC programming, VB programming, Robotics
- Formal training in Industrial Measurement and Control (IMC) is advantageous
