      Application

I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at smallcase in Jan 2022

      Interview

While a lot of companies brag about being "open" or "communicative". smallcase gives meaning to these words. There were 5 rounds in total (excluding screening call), 1. Coding round: Expect to be asked about your work experience, hustle & challenges. You'll also be asked to do a coding problem during the call. Tip: i> Don't oversay your achievements, good interviewers have their means to know the truth. ii> In case you are stuck at anything, be open about it (don't lose hope. don't keep quiet). 2. Take home assessment: You'll be asked to create a CRUD application with your framework of choice. Make sure to cover all the edge cases. 3. Assessment review & live-coding: Be ready to answer questions about the choice of technologies & libraries. You may also be asked to add some extra functionality to your application from round 2. Tip: Don't tell bookish or marketed statements, tell your opinions. 4. dB & system design round: Very simple problem statement. Make sure you ask all the coverage questions. Every functional & non-functional requirements. Express all the assumptions you are taking. Tip: Ask for help, if needed. Don't be afraid to rework your solution if the current one isn't working. 5. facetime with CTO: Awesome guy! He told me "as you've cleared previous rounds, I know technically you are a good fit. I want to know you as a person, who are you beyond tech & screen." Interact with Rohan about your hobbies, passion, interest, ambitions & about your understanding of smallcase products. Tip: Try to make this as interactive as possible. Knowing your CTO is equally important for you as well before deciding whether you resonate with him or not. In all these rounds, you'll be getting every kind of support from your HR rep (Nivetha, in my case). She'll do everything to make sure your experience & expectations are met with the atmost standards. I wish you the best in your interview. Hope we'll be working together soon!
