3 rounds of interview. First was the HR round, then a research round where I discussed a relevant paper and gave my opinions and finally a round with team head.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Why do you like this paper and what can be done to improve this ?
2 options were possible for the technical interview:
- Summarize and discuss a research article on AI robustness or explainability;
- Implement basic adversarial attacks on a pre-trained open-source object detection model.
Then there were informal interviews with the research lead and with HR.

Question 1
Q: What would you do to protect yourself against the attack you implemented ?
I applied online. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at neurocat (Berlin) in May 2023
Interview
The process took about 1 month and a half. I was one of the last candidates to be considered for this role and was then rejected with their reply saying "The position has been closed", “We truly appreciate your effort you put into the application process” and “We encourage you to continue pursuing opportunities on our career page for the future”. Frankly, I find all these generic replies very dull, short, and rude. Moreover, I asked HR for further feedback and instead I was ghosted. I am not sure if HR specialists understand how much effort we put into these interview processes but this type of behaviour doesn't make me trust Neurocat, nor does it make me want to recommend it for anyone else. Instead, I see it reflecting badly on them. If the company wishes to maintain a good image, I would advise a greater focus on the HR personnel’s process, and encourage them to be courteous and respectful to candidates seeking employment. From now on, I will unfortunately remember Neurocat for their stigma. However, I do believe we could improve our behaviour and actions, and repair a company’s structure. I must point out that the company boasts about its position on values such as "Standards, Performance, and Trust." However, it’s being quite contradictory in this case. I wish them all the best in their processes and further endeavours. Good luck!
