Interview
My experience with the recruitment process managed by iKnowHow for a position at Blend Technologies was disappointing due to inconsistent communication and a lack of coordination throughout the final stages. During my initial discussion with the recruiter, we openly discussed compensation expectations. I explained my current package and the level of increase I would consider for a move, and I was informed that the position's compensation range was within budget. I then completed two interview rounds. The first interview involved the recruiter from iKnowHow together with members of the Blend Technologies team, while the second was an onsite meeting with the Chief Development Officer of Blend Technologies. During the onsite discussion, I was told that the team was already familiar with my previous employer, had knowledge of the projects I had worked on, and viewed my background as highly relevant to their needs. The overall feedback was very positive, and I was explicitly asked to consider the opportunity carefully and confirm whether I wished to proceed. After confirming my interest a few days later, I was told to wait for the formal offer. Approximately a week passed without any update. I then received a rejection email. After multiple attempts to obtain clarification, I eventually spoke with the recruiter and was told that the rejection had been sent by mistake and that I should continue waiting for the offer process to move forward. Shortly afterward, I received another call informing me that Blend Technologies had ultimately decided to move forward with a different candidate, who was described as being more junior and less expensive. I fully respect a company's right to choose another candidate. However, receiving what appeared to be a verbal indication that an offer was forthcoming, followed by a rejection sent "by mistake", then a reversal of that decision, and finally a definitive rejection, made the process feel poorly managed and unnecessarily frustrating. My recommendation to both iKnowHow and Blend Technologies would be to improve internal alignment, decision-making, and candidate communication before indicating that an offer is imminent. Recruitment processes require a significant investment of time and effort from candidates, and situations like this can lead to unnecessary delays, uncertainty, and a loss of trust in the hiring process.
