I was emailed shortly after applying (~1 day) to schedule a screening call, and during the interaction, I politely asked to provide the anticipated pay range for the role before I scheduled an interview, since it was not listed in the job description. They responded by asking me what my anticipated salary expectations were, in which I declined and asked again, in respect for each other's time and due to CA pay transparency laws. My email was then ignored after they refused to share the pay range before interviewing, despite asking for it twice.
