I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Yelp
Interview
Applied in 1st week of Jan 2014 and got a call in the last week of Jan. Went through the first round, it was just a screening round with a HR. It was very easy and CS basic questions were asked. Interview went as follow:
Why Yelp?
Why would we hire you?
And then few technical questions:
signal for kill command?
performance of binary tree if implemented thru array or linkedlist?
SQL command to move a row in a table?
protocol used to transfer message in HTTP application?
SSL?
no of bits to represent octal?
max value that can be represented by unsigned int?
which one of the following describe inner join? 1. A intersection B, 2. A Union B and ...
Now i am waiting for next round which is a skype inrvw a week after.
Fue un proceso de varias rondas. Incluyendo entrevistas técnicas y de cultural fit. Además también hubo una prueba técnica online enviada por el recruiter. El proceso fue rápido y en todo momento estuve informado sobre su avance y desarrollo.
1 Initial phone interview - techincal.
3 Technical interviews, each 45mins.
The interviewers were very friendly. Waiting to hear the decision. Good experience.
Techinical questions covered - SQL, Web, Concurrency, Conceptual questions about languages C++,Java. Object oriented programming concepts.
Questions were reasonable. Initial half of the interview is situational questions and past projects.

I applied through university. I interviewed at Yelp (Boston, MA) in Feb 2017
Interview
Interview was smooth. They have a nice system to accept code for the coding problems and their technical questions were reasonable. No complains overall, I would recommend them for sure.
