I applied online. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Yelp (New York, NY) in Nov 2013
Interview
Phone interview does not allow much room to show character and impress. The interviewer expects you to repeat the 10 facts about yelp, and the daily blog of an account executive.
In my opinion, it does not properly screen potential workers, as it does not allow any room for creativity or self expression. Not sure on what basis the interviewer grades the phone interviews.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
The question are as follows "
1. Tell me what you know about yelp (10 facts)
2. What can you tell about the product
3. What do you know about the position
4. Why do you fit the job (examples can be found in the provided blog)
Hardest question? When the interviewer asked what i want to ask him.
After this mutually scripted phone interview i wasnt sure i am talking to a real person at that point.
I applied through an employee referral. I interviewed at Yelp (Austin, TX) in May 2026
Interview
The interview process was pleasant from start to finish. It included a recruiter phone screen, a video call with the sales manager, a role play exercise, and the opportunity to implement the manager’s feedback.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
One question they asked during my interview was what specifically about the role made me feel it was a strong fit for my background and experience.
The interview process with Yelp was a very organized experience. From the first email after I put in my application, to the offer extension call, I always felt well informed and included.
It was a one time interview over video call with a pre call before. One on one with a training manager. Pretty simple not too hard at all. Lasted 30 minutes with questions and role plays.
