I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Yelp in Apr 2021
Interview
The interview process was quite long but well organized. It started out with an online assessment which I completed and heard back from a recruiter a few days later to inform me that I passed.
The next step in the process was a 1-on-1 technical interview with an engineer, where I was invited to solve a problem through a Hackerrank interview link. I passed this portion of the interview, and heard back from the recruiter and was able to book my final virtual onsite interview.
The virtual onsite interview round consisted of 4 back to back interviews (45 min each), two of which were behavioural, and two technical (one system design and one problem solving).
The recruiter was very informative and stayed in touch consistently throughout the process which was nice. The only gripe I have with the process is that no feedback is given for my performance in the interviews, but it seems like this is something that pretty much every company does. Best way to prepare really is do professional mock interviews so you can get some actual feedback on how to improve.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Behavioural interview questions were fairly casual and laid-back, expect to get typical behavioural questions here. Cannot elaborate on technical questions, but they were less Leetcode-esque, and related more to problems relevant to Yelp.
