      Interview

Had an initial call with the recruiter, the hiring manager, and then 4 additional interviews focused on specific parts of the business. Overall the people seemed great, but it was a lot of time to take off from current job to interview. They were staggered throughout the week which made it tough. They were very positive in the interview about next steps and the process, however was left a voicemail saying not selected with no feedback. It would be great to get the constructive feedback and understand what happened. Each interview seemed great and were positive about the next steps. Disappointed to just get a voicemail after 6 hours of time and no feedback other than we selected another candidate.

      Question 1

Tell me about how you have worked with cross functional teams? Give an example of working with a partner and you had something go wrong and wasn't part of the original scope.

      Interview

Lengthy process. I got my first email to schedule a call with the recruiter in January and then the process dragged all the way till March. After scheduling my initial call with the recruiter, I got a notification that she cancelled our meeting- no email or explanation. I reached out to ask if she deleted the meeting by mistake, she said I am busy this week, let's find time next week. When I did speak to her, she was very friendly and asked thoughtful questions. In addition to typical questions about experience, salary expectations,..etc., they asked about situations that show that I am values driven, what my ideal team looks like, what I value in a manager- which I thought were great questions. She explained the process and said they typically do a technical screening with the hiring manager, then a day of 3-4 panel interviews. I then had a video call with the hiring manager who asked a mix of role-specific questions and behavioral questions like my favorite books, and books I thought were influential. I did not get the sense that he was impressed, but I got a call back from the recruiter a week later asking to schedule another technical interview. I asked if it will be a a panel, they said no, only one this time. The second technical interview was with a partner product manager who was incredibly friendly and asked excellent questions about how I would approach the role. I thought I did well and I got a call back a week later from the recruiter to schedule two more interviews: one with an engineering manager and another with a product manager who'd be a peer. The conversation with the engineering manager did not feel like an interview, but rather "how we'd work together" kind of conversation. I took it as a good sign. The last call with the product manager went over things like communication, and it did not feel that challenging either. Two weeks later, and to my surprise, I got an automated rejection email at 3am on Friday. After wasting two months of my time, the team did not even bother to write me a "thank you for your time" email. Incredibly disappointing,

      Interview

After submitting my resume I received a phone call from HR within a week or so. This went well and they scheduled my interview with the hiring manager the next week. That interview went well and I was scheduled for 5 interviews the next week. I thought those went well but I didn’t hear anything for a month despite a few e-mails to HR. I received a call just over a month later from HR asking if my interview with someone senior went well. I said I hadn’t had that interview yet and it felt like they called me accidentally but they said they would get back to me soon. 3 weeks later I hadn’t heard anything else. It felt strange to be ghosted after going through all of those interviews.

      Interview

Recruiter screen with all the usuals: describing the role, talking through my background, and salary expectations. Hiring Manager screen, an hour long. Mostly discussing how I work (e.g. how do you prioritize your roadmap, how have your product teams been structured, etc.). Seemed to go well. The hiring manager said I should hear back from the recruiter in 1-2 days. I was ghosted by the recruiter, never heard anything again despite emailing multiple times over a few weeks.
