      Benefits Analyst/Specialist Interview

      26 Jul 2023
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Austin, TX
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Whole Foods Market (Austin, TX) in Oct 2022

      Interview

Recruiter called to complete the initial phone screen/interview. The recruiter was nice, but the phone interview was kind of awkward, I'm not sure how to completely describe it. Then, at the end of the phone screen, I was told I would receive a video link to do a recorded video interview. I never received the link - even checked my spam/junk folder. To all the recruiters that work there - please do not give a false promise up front. Say "you are going to check with the manager and we will get back in contact with you on whether we want to move forward with the recorded video interview"... or something along the lines of that. Didn't get that, or didn't even receive a email about not moving forward/application being denied. Also, I learned during this interview that Whole Foods operates 24/7, 365 days a year, and the only holiday they have off is Christmas. You would think that this would be for just Whole Food stores.... but it's not, it's also for corporate too. Not meaning to make that a big deal, but, I have worked in healthcare before - dr.'s, nurses, CNA's, etc. don't get holidays off but where I worked in corporate, we always got the minimum holidays off (Christmas, New Years Day, 4th of July, Memorial Day, Labor Day).... at Whole Foods, you don't even get that and have to use something along the lines of "personal holiday" (can't remember the exact word for it, my interview was over a year ago). PTO is awful, the only good thing I was told it rolls over year to year... but if you were hired as a new hire, you literally couldn't take any PTO for your first year as you wouldn't have any to roll over. As someone who has worked in Benefits, benefits did not seem that great. Not saying you have to have a lot of benefits, but the no holidays, PTO accrual, and 401k were complete debbie downers, I expected more than this from an extremely reputable grocery store such as Whole Foods.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

This was a while ago when I interviewed, but they asked the general questions (background, what are you looking for, etc.). They then asked two "tell me about a time when..." questions..... in the phone screening phase...
