I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Walt Disney Company (Culver City, CA) in Oct 2013
Interview
Applied online and received a call about a week later to come in for an interview. It was a group interview with about 6 others. We were interviewed by the Assistant General Manager. She asked us questions like "Who is your favorite Disney character and why?" and she handed us a strip of paper that had a type of customer who would walk in the store. Mine was "a mother with a stroller who came in looking for a particular item and she was in a rush". So I had explain how I would come up to her and help her. We were also asked to pair up with someone else in the group and ask them about themselves. We had to write down their answers and then present that person to everyone in the group in a story telling way. We were also asked general questions like weaknesses and strengths, how would you deal with a rude customer, etc.
Be aware that this company is very serious when it comes to the "guests". You have to learn how to interact with guest of all ages. You have to relate everything to Disney. You must be very outgoing.
I was called back after the group interview with a job offer. Next time I went in I was told to come in their uniform and I had to complete an online training at the store and that is when I completed a lot of paperwork as well.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
How would you start a conversation with a kid you see wearing woody/buzz on his shirt?
Brief, engaging, and very relaxed. The former manager was so easy to talk to. She definitely made me so excited to work at the store, and it was so sad when she left.

Interview
As soon as I got there I was told to go to the side so I don’t bump into anyone (social distance basically). I had no problem waiting outside, I also didn’t want to be in the way. As soon as I go inside the guy tells me I “looked quiet”. First of all I understand this job requires communication but when I’m told to wait and keep my distance with no one around, who was I supposed to talk to, the window? I really didn’t like that and I had to explain that yes I was quiet but because there’s no one to talk to. Then the guy first asks about my availability and I had full availability, but he refused and said my availability wasn’t ideal for the position. Then he asked about my previous job and cut me off. That’s it. I went online a day before to see what type of questions they ask and prepared my answers for the common ones, but all he asked was my availability. A waste of time. I highly disliked that he didn’t proceed to ask questions about me and also jumped to assumptions based on my behavior. Don’t think of ever going there again, I used to be a regular customer. I got hired at another place for the same type of position, which asked for about the same qualities.
