      Principal Software Engineer Interview

      26 Jul 2019
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Bengaluru
      Declined offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 2 days. I interviewed at Walmart (Bengaluru) in Jul 2019

      Interview

Don't go if you are from north India or not from any south Indian state. If you get a genuine interviewer then its your luck. Interview was easy, I cleared all rounds. Round 1 : Basic Java concepts, DS and Algo, CI/CD concepts. Round 2 : DS and Algo : 2 question. Cleared both. Round 3 : In-depth question of Java and spring, how they internally work. Although I didnt understand why those questions are relevant. But I cleared this. Manager working from home on the interview date, so rest of the interview postponed to next day even though I told HR that I was having fever. Round 4 HM : 1. Tell me about your self. 2. How would you distribute work to mentees. 3. Many other non-technical question. 4. Not work related question. It seems he was not interested. Even all his teammates who took my interview were south indians. Seeing this pattern I realized he rarely hires north indian (only for name sake). So I realized he is wasting time. But in the end he said I am good and HR will do the final offer. (Wait and watch what happened below) 4. HR discussion : Salary expectation, submitted all my documents in soft copy After that, the Manager told me please keep seated HR will come with offer. After half an hour sitting, HR came and suddenly told me the vacancy is closed. Sorry. The communication was verbal, no official confirmation that seat was filled. It was visible enough they have become master of hiding their intentions but still are racist. The whole floor was filled with south indians. So I would suggest if you manager is south indian DONT go and waste time.

      Principal Software Engineer Interview

      14 Aug 2013
      Anonymous interview candidate
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Walmart in Aug 2013

      Interview

Was approached by an internal recruiter. Was a pretty standard process: phone screen, then a full panel interview that lasted over 6 hours. Their location was hard to find, and they didn't provide proper lunch. Just snacks and colas. That's Wal-mart for ya. They showed me their digs: very small cubes, almost claustrophobic, drab wall colors. At the conclusion of the meeting, I asked what were next steps: another full-round of grilling. Well, my mind switched off on them when I heard that. Very picky people. I was told about a week later that they're still talking to other candidates. I guess they couldn't come to tell me I'm not what they want. Oh well.
