I applied online. The process took 5 weeks. I interviewed at Walmart (Jacksonville, FL) in Jul 2012
Interview
I filled out an application online 2 weeks prior and was called around 11am to come in for an interview at 1pm. I had them move it to the same time the next day. I arrived 15 minutes early and waited for 25 minutes. My first interview went okay, about 20 minutes, it was with the Front End Manager and the manager of Apparel, both friendly. I then was told to wait, which was another 15-20 minutes, then I had an interview with two higher up managers. One was very rude and paid no attention to me or my answers and constantly interrupted by talking to every person walking by in the hallway. The other paid close attention and looked irritated by the other manager. Afterwards I was told that they'd call me back within the next few days to come in for more interviews. I called twice a week every week to follow up for 3 weeks. It's been a month, and I've moved on to better opportunities. Also, when it comes to their interview questions they would hassle me for extremely detailed answers, and if I'd never been in the situation they had me make up an answer.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Name a problem you had with a supervisor or teacher. What happened and how did you overcome it?
Pretty easy. A lot of information up front that's hard to retain but everything you need to find is online. Pretty much always ends with an offer. Just be cool.
Online application and skill assessment, followed by an in person interview with a team lead. Assessment was a little vaguely worded at times, but it all seems like common sense if you've worked customer facing roles before.
Efficient interview process. Quick and easy interview. Hiring manager was approachable and easy to talk to. I was asked about my experience to determine if I would be a good fit.
