Easiest interview I have ever done. The day after I applied, I was called for an interview that day. I was originally going to be interviewed for the "overnight cashier" position, but when they sat me down, they gave me the job description for a baker. That was on purpose too. After they called me (my interview was 3 hours after they called me), they found out one of their closing bakers quit and is not coming back. I had deli experience from Winn-Dixie, and I said I was interested in deli or bakery on the application, so they hired me for that instead, which works out even better for me. My interview was with the Assistant Grocery Manager I think, and then it was finished with the Assistant Fresh Manager. Both were really friendly. The grocery manager gave me a bunch of paperwork to initial and sign, basically that everything on my application is correct, my availability is correct, that I understand my duties as a baker and I can do everything without reasonable accommodation, and a form for the background check. She only asked me one question which I have listed below, which was basically a reflection question. Then she took my paperwork in the personnel office to put me in the computer.
Later, the fresh manager calls me in and talks about the job, the shifts I'll have (I'll be a closer so usually between 1 PM and 10 PM), shows me my hourly wage on the computer, and gives me a little information on training and orientation. It was then that both personnel and the fresh manager told me all they have to do is wait on my background check to come back and if it comes back by Friday, that's when my orientation will be. They both said, "Hope to see you back on Friday!"
So basically what I'm saying is that it was less than a 24 hour span between applying for Walmart and getting a job offer. I know some Walmarts are far harder to get into though, the one my fiance works at is extremely picky and don't hire very often. I have tried to apply there and even though I had a few of his coworkers put in a good word for me, and I even called personnel to follow up on my application and name dropped him and his grandmother (his grandmother is a fill in overnight customer service manager), I got nothing.
