      Customer Success Manager Interview

      15 Mar 2016
      Anonymous interview candidate
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied through an employee referral. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at WalkMe in Feb 2016

      Interview

Was a referral for the role and met with the hiring team for a screening before moving on to the next step. Was asked the standard questions, why are you looking, what did you like about this role, etc. That portion of the interview was fantastic and well structured. Received an email with instructions that stated: The CEO would like to meet with you and to prepare for this interview we would like you to review the product, understand how it works and build a walk thru of a site that you *think* needs assistance. Understanding the product was not hard, it's a Firefox plug-in, however - trying to find a website that you can apply a walk thru on that you think has a problem is arbitrary. In this world, websites are very intuitive so I had to find one that just had multiple steps and new functionality after logging in (I wanted to showcase my ability to learn the product quickly and walk through it, since this was described as part of the role). After preparing diligently, I had the interview. The CEO was very curt and ridiculed my choice of website saying that website was too simple - I explained, that I agreed and I was expecting the interview to be about setting up and assisting existing customers with the product and since I wasn't sure what websites had issues I wasn't sure exactly what to pick. He then proceeded to tell me that he wanted me to go through a process where I would identify an existing customers pain points and how WalkMe would help him solve that, he chose a customer that I had no reference too and continued to press me for answers. I was cornered and felt pretty helpless because I wasn't prepared for this type of interview. I prepared for a walk thru on a website, only for it to be shot down and then asked questions about customers I had no context with. Safe to say, it ended abruptly and there was no follow up. Overall, it seemed like the CEO had one idea for this role but the hiring team was focused on another.

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at WalkMe (Sydney) in Aug 2022

      Interview

The initial screening interview was conducted by HR person based in California. It was around 20 min and it was easy. The second interview was conducted by the local hiring manager. There should be like 5 interviews to get to job offer. Pro No surprise. Very much the standard job interview process is written in the textbook. Con Least welcoming job interview. -WalkMe is still a small company. I was expecting a startup-like culture during the interview but the interviewer sounds like from old school , a large enterprise business person where as some good tech startup companies actually try to get to know "you" as a person. -Also when I asked a question about the company the answer was very generic and it really didn't mean much.

      Customer Success Manager Interview

      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at WalkMe in Jun 2022

      Interview

HR Screen followed by various interviews with Hiring Manager, Peers, and other members of leadership. ' Recruiter was personable and responsive and offered thorough review of the interview process, the role and its reason for the opening, and the company. My only feedback would be that interviews should be interviews. During one of the interviews (which motivated me decide to not move forward), we did not discuss my background nor experience, nor were there any questions or general discussion about the the job and expectations. Instead the interviewer spent about half the time expressing their annoyance with lack of company loyalty/how people don't stay at jobs/companies longer than 1-2years anymore. The only questions asked of me was why I thought people don't stay longer, and how can companies deal with this. But I did not find to this be asked out of curiosity or spark discussion. It was more of a rant. I personally didn't find this to be very relevant to the opening-- so I interpreted it as a red flag and decided to not move forward in the process.

      Interview

The team didn't seem interested in the process. They requested a massive home assignment ahead of time to be presented at the onsite to 6 managers. only one showed up and didn't bother to go over it before the onsite interview. Lacking creativity, expected me to memorize their website statements. Very poor experience.
