I applied through university. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Volute (Lincoln, RI) in May 2016
Interview
They hand you a stack of questions about Javascript, HTML, CSS, and web development. Anyone could have studied for this by memorizing facts and this is a poor evaluation of anyone's web development skills.
I applied online. I interviewed at Volute (Providence, RI) in Feb 2017
Interview
I had a phone interview with general background and skills questions followed by an on-location interview with the lead developer. The in-person interview was great consisting of thoughtful questions the lead developer based in real-world problems he was solving with his team. He kept it casual but meaningful. It was a great experience as far as technical interviews go. One question I was asked turned out to be one of the first problems I was able to solve on the job!
