I reached out to someone senior, an old connection, he put me in touch with a recruiter. I went onsite to speak to the recruiter who seemed a mix of rushed and rude. The recruiter didn't have my resume, misread it, and then gave me a hard time for what he misread.
I thought I was interviewing for a junior AI role... The recruiter set up the whole interview around a VP OS or platform engineering role. I was given questions about OS, hardware, logic gates, semaphores. This is stuff I hadn't reviewed since my sophomore year in college. Some of the interviewers were nice and accommodating, some were a mix of rude and egotistic.
When I pressed about how I thought this was an AI role at an AI company, I was told this company is more of a company that deals with APIs and the platform but doesn't do much AI work itself.
I think this was the worst interview experience I've ever had. Badly organized, rude people, the company's entire premise of being a leader in the AI space is nonsense. Sorry to the connection of mine that referred me but seriously, a pretty terrible process, I've had better experiences at unfunded startups.
