      Flight Attendant Interview

      12 Apr 2016
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Houston, TX
      No offer
      Neutral experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied through an employee referral. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at United Airlines (Houston, TX) in Mar 2016

      Interview

The process took about two weeks from application to rejection, and I definitely appreciate their courtesy in being so quick about it. I did not use GlassDoor to prepare for the interview but didn't feel it necessary since I've done enough that I'm more comfortable answering questions on the fly than studying for them. (If they happen to spring something I haven't seen after studying I tend to freeze) So you put in your basic information with your resume, employee referral, and all of that routine stuff. Within about two days you can expect to hear back for a video interview. You dress up in a sports coat, tie and slacks if you're male (I don't know how females should dress sorry ladies!) and generally look professional with neutral "boring" colors (navy blues and plain white shirt suggested) Remember that since you'll be sitting to not button the coat, pretty basic... Once you're dressed you sit in front of a webcam and they ask you six personality questions where you basically talk about yourself and why you're a fit for United. They ask why you're applying, what makes you think you'll be good for the position, etc. The interview is difficult only because of the format; you have thirty seconds to read each question and then you have to spit out an answer at a webcam and attempt to look and sound natural. Without having human eyes to look at it's easy to get disoriented (for me anyway) so make sure to run through the practice questions many times so that you feel prepared! Once that is complete you wait and pray. If they select you you probably will hear back from them within 5 days. If not it can be longer like my case and you'll get a rejection letter in your email box. They ALWAYS give acceptance or rejection letters if you've done the webcam interview so don't fret too much until you actually see it in stone! If you are accepted they schedule to fly you out to whatever base of operations they have of your choice and you will either be doing a group interview or a face to face interview. There's lots of information on here about those so read up! If you are rejected you have to wait six months to reapply. All I can do is speculate why I was rejected considering I had a strong referral, did well on the interview and am generally confident in myself but my theory is they probably draw the video interviews randomly until they fill up a class, then reject everyone else who applied. That's just speculation, but if it's true there's an element of luck here, moreso than other companies when you get to the interview stage. Best of luck to everyone applying, I hope you get the job!

Second, you will be invited to a virtual interview. basically, you need to answer 8 questions and record your answers. You have 3 attempts to record it.
