I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at USAA in Aug 2016
Interview
I applied online for the position on a Friday. I was contacted the following Monday to complete an online assessment which consisted of a typing test and personality questions. I received an email Tuesday stating I was scheduled for a telephone interview on Thursday and asked to confirm the date and time of the phone interview. The telephone interviewer was very nice, went over salary and benefit information, schedule etc. She informed me I was selected for an in person interview right away and it was scheduled for the following Monday. I had my interview Monday morning at 10 A.M. and received a call at 4 P.M. the same day saying I was selected for the job, pending a background check and drug test. I received an email with the information on how to complete the background check with HireRight and the drug screening. I completed both of those on Tuesday and received an official offer on Thursday. Overall, a very easy process. From start to finish, less than two weeks.
The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at USAA (San Antonio, TX)
Interview
First I had to take an online assessment and then about a week after that I received an email to schedule a telephone interview. The my described the job and what it would entail then asked me a few questions. Now I’m waiting to see if I receive a second interview.

Why are you changing careers and why did you choose USAA?
I applied through university. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at USAA
Interview
First, you will have a phone interview with a talent recruiter. The recruiter is very much by the book. They will describe the position, potential salary and benefits. The recruiter will ask you questions about your experience and how might that experience help you in this position. Then the recruiter will ask you Situation, Target, Action, and Result (STAR) questions. After, they will tell you if you will interview with manager at the office you applied for.

Question 1
Describe a time you had to overcome an obstacle at work?
The assessment is based on behavior and it looks for the lack of individuality. If you are someone with a strong work ethic and knowledge of the subject and you honestly (without cherry-picking) answer the questions - you will not get selected. If the system rejects you, you are disqualified. This kind of blind system makes me want to switch carriers, since they obviously don’t care about the quality of employees. Extremely disappointed in the company I praised for over a decade. Very outdated employment process.
