I applied in-person. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at Thumbtack (San Francisco, CA) in Oct 2015
Interview
Had a face-to-face interview on campus a few days after handing in my CV in the job fair. The interviewer was super nice and helpful in the interview process. Then went to an onsite. Co-founder gave a general talk for about 15 minutes, followed by 6 interviews (4 technical + 2 general + 1 lunch). Technical ones were almost the typical questions online. But I did not work well... Some of the interviewers were very nice and helpful when I struggled. But some were not nice at all. But they do care about your previous experience (projects). They did not follow the schedule strictly. In general, the interview process is very tough but I learned a lot, especially the nice culture of the company.

Interview
One round of recruiter call, the recruiter rescheduled the call 5 times (not exaggerating). when we finally got on the call he sounded unenthusiastic about the company, lots of sighs, even said that he's already in a friday mood (it was a wednesday). Asked me about what I knew about the company, I gave him a high level description, he made fun of me for not giving detailed enough info and not doing my research before the interview.. overall he came of as rude. will not be moving forward with them. He also seemed very stuck on the leveling of the position, this could be a good thing but I've never had a recruiter needing me to have the exact title from my last company, as far as I know, these titles mean different things at different companies.

What did you know about the company, describe what has been `keeping you busy`
I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Thumbtack in Jul 2023
Interview
The entire interview process was straightforward and efficient. The recruiter was thorough in explaining the nuances of the role and steps of the interview process during our initial call. After the technical interview (online challenge via Hackerrank), he prepped me for the virtual onsite and made sure I felt confident and prepared. (I'm interviewing at several different companies and many of them don't even offer a prep call or guidance along the way.) This left me with a really positive impression about Thumbtack overall. I didn't receive an offer, but my experience throughout the process was positive and the recruiter said he would let me know if they other roles open where I might be a better fit, which I appreciated. Keeping my fingers crossed to hear from them in the future.

Interview
Not great. Would not recommend applying to this company but do so at your own risk. Person interviewing me seemed nice though. They did not seem to know what they wanted from me as an engineer.
