Potential candidates, please beware!
The interview process at Thumbtack was gruelling: 7 weeks, 10 total interviews, and a substantial take-home assignment...and no offer.
Phone screening was followed up with a positive interview with the hiring manager. From there, I was sent a take-home assignment that essentially asked me to provide a detailed outline of how I would do the job, and to offer up all of my ideas. The assignment was then followed up with 3 interviews over the course of two days, and then 4 more interviews over the course of two hours. I then waited for two weeks with no updates, and then I completed one final interview where the interviewer was clearly distracted and disinterested. A few days later, I was sent a short rejection email with no feedback and little care for the process they put me through.
While most of the interviewers were friendly, the company came off as extremely pretentious, inefficient and fake. Not only did I have to answer the same questions over and over for different interviews, but I also handed them all of my ideas free of charge which they can now use...and who knows how many people they asked to do the same thing.
