      Course Developer Interview

      20 Oct 2014
      Anonymous interview candidate
      No offer

      Application

I applied through an employee referral. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Thinkful

      Interview

After an introduction I met with one of the founders just to see if their were any opening for which I might have been a fit. My conversation with the founder was very pleasant and I really liked the organization. There weren't any that were a great fit, but there was one opening that was close enough, so I gave it a shot with the department lead. The interview was over video chat, and fairly informal. Right off the bat they had me complete a 30 min, hypothetical project that was very relevant to the position. Jumping right into a project caught me off guard and it was the middle of the afternoon, so I did quite poorly on the project. Overall the conversation went fairly well. Again I liked the people I was interviewing with. They had a list of standard interviewy questions that I went through. It was my first job interview in several years so I didn't do very well. In the end, I thought it was a great company, and I would love to work there, but the position just wasn't right for me. Only thing I didn't like about the experience was the dead air after I bombed the interview. After two meetings with the company I would expect a thanks but no thanks email.
