I applied online. The process took 6 weeks. I interviewed at Theorem Solutions (Tamworth, England) in Jun 2019
Interview
The interview process consisted of a telephone interview, followed by 2 in-person interviews. The telephone interview lasted about 20 minutes and consisted of general questions about previous experience etc. The first in-person interview was very difficult, but not technical in the way I expected it to be. The role was advertised as a developer role. However, I wasn't asked a single question about my programming experience / skills or any other developer-related question. Instead I was asked more general questions about my current role and my motivations for seeking out a new role as well as being required to take a 3D geometric topology test- which I was completely unprepared for. Surprisingly, I did really well in the exercise and I was invited for the second in-person interview. This was actually a repeat of the questions that I was asked in the first in-person interview, but without the 3D test. By the end of it all, I was actually grateful when I was informed later that I hadn't been successful with the interview. Apparently they felt that I interviewed well but they didn't think I'd be suited for the agile way the team develops. Which, coming from a SCRUM / Kanban background, I found really odd. What I also found odd was that no questions had been asked at any stage about agile development processes. All in all, a very odd interview experience.
