I found the interview process to be extremely long. I understand they want to put the right people in each and every role, but it seemed to drag, mostly towards the end. This role was one of the few to be available to open an office in the Detroit market.
It went well during the entire process...I had a 30-minute phone screening with HR, a 30-minute interview with a manager, a 2-hour video-conference interview with 4 different people, and then they asked me to fly out to Chicago for an 2-hour in-person interview with 4 different people. The most shocking part of it was they made ME pay for my travel costs, whereas most companies cover this. I've never had a company not pay for a candidate to fly out for an onsite, especially since the role is in my market. I was completely turned off by this; it seemed unethical and unprofessional.
When all was said and done, I received a rejection email 2 weeks after the onsite. The entire process took a full month of my time.
