I applied online and they called to schedule a follow up interview after they had me sign an NDA. The company's website looked legitimate so I went for the follow up interview. I wish I wouldn’t have done that. Not only was the interview a waste of time, it was downright unprofessional.
First let me first say that this is a company that does not pay you for your time. They only pay you for your leads. When I told the interviewer I wasn't interested because I think companies should pay people for their time, he said "this is a proven business model. I’ve been doing this for 20 years and have hired over 2000 people without paying them a cent." He was proud of this.
I wish I could tell you the interview ended there. But no - no it did not. The interviewer continued about the merits of his company. When I told the interviewer, I am looking to work for companies that take care of people - companies like Starbucks - the interviewer then told me he was a Donald Trump supporter.
What?
What does Donald Trump have to do with Starbucks. Also - I’ve sat in way too many meetings to know that it’s unprofessional to discuss politics with clients or colleagues. Not only that, but this man was self righteous about expressing his political beliefs. The context of it scared me, especially with everything that’s going on right now.
I would stay away from this job and even interviewing for it. It will only be a waste of your time.
