      Account Executive Interview

      20 Aug 2025
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Sacramento, CA
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied through an employee referral. I interviewed at Tenna (Sacramento, CA) in Aug 2025

      Interview

Very weird. Be honest and have integrity  So I was referred from an old coworker to Tenna and I was excited because it seemed like a really good company. Since I have a lot of experience in this industry with their competitors, I figured I had a good shot at the role.  The first two rounds of hiring went well. They all said that I would be a great fit for the role and that my experience would help them with deals against a certain competitor. After the first two rounds, they had me do a 6 month territory plan. I put a bunch of information into it between sales, internal goals etc and it ended up being 7 pages long worth of work.  They also had me fill out an application asking for my start date, salary and asked me for 3 references. I’ve never heard of someone who submited this information that didn’t get the job.  Here’s where it gets weird The last part of the interview is meeting the CEO in person. This means they fly you out and put you in a hotel for the night so in my mind I thought.. “As long as I don’t royally screw up, I probably have this. They don’t spend this much money on an interview unless if they are pretty sure about me”.  They even hired a car service, not an Uber and it was nice. Fast forward to the morning of the day of the interview and it went well. He asked some questions and I thought I answered them well. The CEO said “You have really good experience, the team really likes you a lot, I just wanted to meet you in person” which kind of sounded like I had the role. He then asked to end the interview, “Is there any reason I wouldn’t want to work at Tenna?”, and obviously I told him that I was excited about the role Fast forward a week after the interview, I get a call telling me that I didn’t get the role because of “follow up and aggressiveness with prospects” I’m not sure what that means because I sent every single person a follow up email of how I enjoyed their time and would be excited to work them. I followed up with an email asking for further explanation but I have heard nothing from them since. Not getting the role is one thing but having the CEO tell me to my face that I have "great experience, the team really likes me and asking me if there is any reason I wouldn’t want to work for Tenna" and then not hiring me is just fruatrating. Just be honest and have some integrity with your hiring process
