Process: recruiter screen, whiteboarding session with CEO and VP of Product/Operations, paid trial period to work with the team.
Recruiter screening was pretty easy. Asked standard questions about experience and goals in job search.
Recruiter explained that next round would be with the CEO and VP of Product and Operations:
"The interview will be about 60 minutes, involve some Q+A about your experience, as well as a chance to do some realistic problem solving and brainstorming. You'll work with Dave and Lara to create some PRD outlines based on a scenario you chat about. The goal is not to see you handle abstract or surprise puzzles, but to get a chance to collaborate and approach problems with 2 people you'll be working with very closely in this role. There is nothing particular you need to prepare in advance."
This was not what happened at all. I was told to share my screen, go through the app and talk about how I would improve user acquisition (grow from 1.5% to 2%) with some random questions sprinkled in. It was a pretty bizarre bait and switch. I was interviewing for their first product manager and it seemed like they were trying to get free work out of me.
Did not make it to the next round. Shared feedback with the recruiter about the experience with no response.
