I had two HR interviews with Talabat over the past two years. Unfortunately, the process seemed to lack a proper technical filtration stage. Instead, the screening focused on factors like English fluency or other non-technical aspects. In one case, the recruiter even told me directly, “You seem like a great engineer, but you need to work on your English speaking.”
This feedback felt strange, as I had already worked for a multinational company for a year and a half, where I regularly communicated with multiple people in their Redmond branch across many meetings. No one there ever mentioned any issues with my English, nor was I ever asked to repeat myself.
I also know friends who had very different experiences at the HR level, which suggests the process is inconsistent. In my case, after the HR interviews, I was simply ghosted with no further communication.
