The process was extremely lengthy, more than 2.5 months. The manager reached out without a recruiter and at first the manager interviewed. I answered all the questions, and then the manager sent the application to HR and then HR interviewed me. Then the manager said, there is a case and said he will send the case and he didn't. I had to follow up to remind him that he didn’t send the case. He would just say, "I am so busy." I did the case and put more than 40 to 50 hours into building a large excel analysis, presentation, deck and more. I presented it to the manager and his boss, and his boss appreciated the work. The week after they reached out to do a background and reference check. No verbal offer at this point. The manager did not communicate well at all and neither explained the team well nor the org structure and the work. I was still in the dark and went with the flow. This was a mistake to just go with the flow. All background and reference were clear. At this point, they had taken more than 2.5 months of my time, with emails, dragging the conversation, and then now all documents were ready; they contacted references, each one, twice (via phone and email). There was no job offer and HR was coming back saying the manager will get int ouch with you by the end of the week and all is good. Then HR started saying there is no approval for the job yet. So, I was dragged through this whole process and now this? that we still do not have approval to proceed. They were disorganized and manager did not call me by the promised date after doing background and ref check. He just left for vacation and left me up in the air. I was having doubts about the process and the company. I called hr the next week and there was no answer. So, I reached out to the manager's boss by just asking Telus switchboard for the manager and they transferred me. He picked up and said we are hiring interns in that department and that his manager is on vacation. I was not an intern, what I applied for was not an intern job. The next day the application was rejected and the feedback was, because you called a manager to get an update on your application, your application is rejected. You did not have permission to call the managers. Hr was clueless from the beginning and was not even in the loop. The manager was extremely slow to communicate. During panel interview director's camera was off and I almost felt someone else is shadowing the director. Something was off in this whole process. They bothered me. Would I recommend ...? you be the judge: someone takes your time for 2.5 close to 3 months, takes 50 hours of your time with a case and work for free and then calls all your references without even letting you know if they are going to hire you and then does not even call you to give you an update. Rejects you because you called to get an update when manager just left on vacation and did not care to even respond or correspond and HR was not in the loop.
