      Partnership Manager Interview

      24 Feb 2020
      Anonymous interview candidate
      San Mateo, CA
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at Swing Education (San Mateo, CA) in Feb 2020

      Interview

The interview process was lengthy: 3 rounds of calls, a meeting with the potential boss (115 miles away from my location), final round at HQ in San Mateo 4 rounds from 10 am-2 pm, 8 different people, 2 presentations, 30-60-90 day plan. The founders were uninterested in my portion of the interview. They were eating lunch and working on their laptops while I presented my 30-60-90 day plan. The people were nice at the office but there is a lack of diversity and when I asked a question in regards to diversity and inclusion Founder A struggled with the answer. Also when I asked about the company culture and growth Founder A struggled with the answer. Founder B did not say much during the process her greeting and look at me was demoralizing I can contribute that to various things. They also wanted me to pay for my flight and hotel for the final round of interviews with 6 days notice. Swing agreed to pay for my trip but when I arrived at my hotel payment was not received and I had to travel a few miles away to find a Hotel and pay for it with my own funds. You will be required to complete a written exercise explaining how you would open the territory as well. I was told I did not receive an offer because they are looking for someone with a proven track record of sales which my potential boss and the director of sales established I met those requirements during our first two phone conversations. The potential Boss and National sales director verbally told me he wanted me with the company. I hope this helps any potential candidate. I truly believe I was only interviewed as a diversity quota requirement. In the end, what Swing offers is great but the 20th-century interview process and prejudiced views are not a place for forward-thinking applicants.
