I applied online. The process took 1+ week. I interviewed at Squarefoot Tradesmen (Buffalo, NY) in Jul 2016
Interview
This was the best interview I'd ever had with anyone. It was totally real. Honest and refreshing. Despite how badly I wanted the job I was at ease. He wanted to know who I was as a person and what I really wanted out of a career. I was a complete and total crossroads in my life, I'd been floundering for a couple of years. Knew I couldn't stay in my current career nor go back to my previous one. But what was I going to do? I had absolutely no idea. How could I take all of the skills I've amassed and use them successfully on a new path. I met an interviewer who is totally real and down to earth. When I looked at him and told him I believed all of my former skills would make me a great recruiter he believed me. But just in case he asked me to prove it, a little homework assignment to complete when I left. It was a great exercise and really got me ready for the new role I was about to jump into.
Now I know many people who don't respond well to this style of interview so if you're one of those people, be warned. This is what you're walking into but just try to embrace it because if you do, good chance you're going to walk away with a good job with a great company when it's over.
