This was a terrible interview experience with multiple red flags. I had my first interview which was a phone screen with the recruiter. The recruiter had no idea what the job was and read verbatim the job description to me. The role was for content compliance and the job description did not specify the "content". I asked what content would be reviewed in this role and asked is it internal, external or customer support interactions and the recruiter just said it was all of it. I asked again towards the end of our call because she was very vague about what the actual job was and then she got mad and defensive at me for asking again. I have never spoken to a recruiter who has not been able to describe the job they are recruiting for and where they cannot answer the basic questions.
I was invited to interview in the next round with the hiring manager. The hiring manager was able to explain to me the content that was being reviewed and told me it would be podcast content. This confirmed the recruiter had zero clue what the job was. The hiring manager was nice enough but seemed overwhelmed and not very confident about what this job was and what the person would be doing. After learning what the job was for (it is a very specific role), I was not interested.
I asked what the next steps were at the end of our interview and the hiring manager told me someone would be in touch to schedule a final round of interviews but it would be after they got back from a vacation.
It has been a few weeks now and I never heard anything from anyone.
In addition to the multiple red flags in the interview process. I wasn't interested in moving forward with the role after learning what it really was and would have let them know this if they had followed up with me. The fact that Spotify couldn't even send a generic rejection email is also worrisome. This is one of the most unprofessional interview experiences I have ever had.
