      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Splunk in Jul 2020

      Interview

Screening questionnaire, then two 1 on 1 30-minute interviews with two of their TSAMs. It was strange to say the least. The first TSAM was one of their more senior members, and he literally spoke for 23 minutes, and left me 7 minutes for questions. I had to interject, diplomatically and with tact, during his monologue to highlight why I was a good fit for the role. 0 eye contact during the Zoom meeting. Again, just weird. Thankfully, the second TSAM's idea of conducting a job interview entailed asking questions about my background. However, she kept saying how she was not technical at all and her undergrad in hospitality or something, and how she's always the dumbest person in the room when it comes to technical stuff. I believed her: While answering a question about what I knew about Splunk, I mentioned it is generally used for syslog and machine data. She said "I am not sure about syslog, but I'll have to check." So, after two years with the company and at the TSAM role, she still hasn't a clue about something as rudimentary as what the product does! Unreal! A week later, I received the "we're moving with someone else" email. Thankfully, it'd totally moved on at that point, given my less than stellar interview experience. That said, I was flabbergasted that a reputable company such as Splunk would delegate the responsibility of such an important function, interviewing potential future employees, to people who might not best suited to do so. finally, it if you are interested in the TSAM role, it is not technical at all, and apparently even a caveman can do it. aside from the written questionnaire and two 30 minute video calls, I believe there is one more round that entails a conversation with someone in management. So, easy peasy!

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at Splunk (Joliet, IL) in May 2021

      Interview

Apply in March. Hear back in April. Recruiter asks for answers to questions as what I assume is a pre-screen. Fill those out and send them in. Meet in early May with the recruiter where recruiter states that the time will be spent going over the role, and will cover any questions I had about the role. I get on the phone and literally listen to the recruiter read a script about Splunk and the TSAM role for 30 minutes. Not a pause in the middle to ask if I had any questions. Nada. By the time the recruiter came up for air, I had to go because I did already have a job and took my lunch to waste it on this awful step in an interview process that I thought ended there. Fast forward 6 months later when I laughed at the fact that I received a rejection letter, when all they had from me was my resume and a handful of answers that I sent over. The recruiter could really not have discerned anything from our meeting because she was the only one talking. But all is good, I consider it a bullet dodged. Especially reading the latest news on the executive comings and goings.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

What is your approach to developing a relationship with a new customer or team? When a customer has an issue or needs support, who handles that? What is your role in that process? How do you partner with support teams to drive solutions? What do you do to manage personal, management, and customer deadlines?

      Interview

The screening interview was scheduled for 30 minutes and 20 of those minutes were spent listening to the HR screener read a script about the company. There was little time for her questions, nor mine.

      Application

I applied online. The process took 3 months. I interviewed at Splunk (Hesperia, CA) in Apr 2021

      Interview

I had about 5 interviews not counting the screening call with the recruiter. The interviews were smooth but every time, I had to follow-up what was going on since I did not hear anything back after each interview. I applied in March and finally got my rejection in June. They need to learn not to string interviewees out so long. If they do not desire to hire you, they should figure that out after about 3 interviews, not 5! Wasted my time entirely. A very disappointing experience.
