      Senior Software Engineer Interview

      27 Feb 2026
      Anonymous interview candidate
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. I interviewed at Solace

      Interview

The interview process seemed good until the last interview where the tech lead was vague and clearly bored of interviewing. They acted like the interview went well and then rejected me with zero feedback. Massive waste of time having three different rounds of technical interviews.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

Redesign a database table to use a many to many relationship and update the seed file using drizzle.

      Interview

RED FLAG 🚩 What a joke company & process. Recruiter reached out to me MULTIPLE times on linkedin… finally agreed to meet and go through the process. I waited on the zoom call for 15 minutes with him no showing and disconnected, to which he called my cell 5 minutes later and asked me if I could rejoin, because he had a late lunch. Asked me about my experience briefly, a little about the job - the vibe was “I have about 20 more people to call shut up and listen” biggest red flag he said was “we will not provide feedback after interviews, as we have a lot of applicants”. Yikes. They sent me a coding assessment on CodeSignal, which was not even in their tech stack (lol) it was an express, sequelize and react exercise… recruiter specifically told me it would be in their stack (Nest, TypeORM and React. I said whatever, started the exercise. You have 1 hour to familiarize yourself with a codebase that is poorly written, and decently sized. 4 challenges, (migration, endpoint work, ui work). Straight forward, not a lot of time to familiarize yourself with the code. submitted it (mind you this is at 8pm as it is on your own time). An hour after submitted, I got a generic “we’ve decided to move forward with other candidates”. So a human didn’t even look at anything written. Next day, the recruiter reached out and asked to set up the next interview. At this point I had seen enough and told them I wasn’t interested anymore and wish to drop from the process. I can only imagine how this company is ran, if this is their interview process.

      Senior Software Engineer Interview

      19 May 2026
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Denver, CO
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at Solace (Denver, CO) in May 2026

      Interview

Ridiculous interview process. 3 technical interviews: 1 Leetcode style (they'll say it's not Leetcode-style, but it is), 1 virtual, and 1 in-person. They received an overzealous valuation and someone in the chain-of-command seems to have trust issues. They'll eventually tell you that the final technical interview requires you to travel to Philadelphia/Boston so they can interview in person... for a remote role, as an individual contributor. It just seems very biased towards candidates that don't have children and other responsibilities.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

HR asked very generic questions and didn't seem to fully understand the technical nature of the role they're hiring for.
