Interview
First round call with a recruiter, followed by a hiring manager interview. Had things progressed, it sounded like there was a project and several additional rounds to follow. The recruiter was great and had a nice convo.
The hiring manager was late to the interview and seemed very disinterested and not personable. I was replying to a question and he very obviously had gotten distracted and then misunderstood what I had explained and it was just very awkward. The duties of the role were really vague and he mostly was name dropping clients/partners rather than talking to the day to day expectations. Questions were also very vague, “where have you heard about Segment before?”
I was planning to withdraw but recruiter beat me to the punch with it not being a fit. Seems like a really cool product and the recruiter was great so might just be a quirk of this specific team.
It was an extremely lengthy process. I had at least 6 rounds with one very time consuming presentation round. Not sure what they are looking for. Dont waste your time on interviewing for this.
I applied online. The process took 1+ week. I interviewed at Segment (San Francisco, CA) in May 2018
Interview
2 Phone interviews, followed by in person interview and a mock "sales call." Was told to prepare on presenting two features. Instead most of time was spent discussing how I would implement these features. None of the skills a Solutions Engineer should have were tested or validated.

Question 1
If you were an employee, how would you design this feature and convince me it was financially worth implementing?
