      Software Engineer II Interview

      29 Jan 2025
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Draper, UT
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at SeekWell (Draper, UT) in Nov 2024

      Interview

They began with an incredibly insulting "answer 10 multiple-guess questions about syntax in these 5 languages" test. Any proficient developer could have answered any of those ten questions within minutes--with the aid of google, but they disallow any research aids and want applicants to pass their quiz using top of the brain knowledge. My ability to regurgitate knowledge about a language I used three companies ago has absolutely no bearing on my ability to succeed within any roll. I considered this a major red flag because it communicates: "We only hire developers who fit our cookie cutter mold of perfection." and a place with bureaucracy like that is not somewhere I want to work.
