I had mixed feelings about the HR process at Samsara, but overall I was pretty disappointed. Initially, it was great. I was referred in by a friend, and the recruiter who I originally talked to was helpful, informative, and eager to find a role that was a proper fit. She put me in touch with another recruiter for a different role that was more suited to my skills. At the end of this second conversation, we realized there was some misalignment on comp, but other potentially more suitable roles were becoming available. This prompted Recruiter 2 to set up a follow-up meeting the next week where she offered to bring more info about the new role and discuss the next steps. I received the invite and accepted as I was eager to hear more. The following week, I joined the meeting, but she was a no-show. I followed up with an email assuming she needed to reschedule. I didn't hear anything back. I followed up a few days later with genuine concern that something had happened to the person, including both recruiters. The woman who did not show up to our call responded. She denied scheduling the meeting, suggested we never discussed another potential role, and concluded that our comp misalignment disqualified me. Out of my confusion, I landed on two possible scenarios for this behavior: 1. She was either dishonest about our interaction or 2. She legitimately was unfit in her role as a recruiter. I supposed both scenarios suggest a lack of professionalism, which made me question the company and it's potential.
