      I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Samsara in Aug 2025

      Interview

      The entire interview process took about four weeks from my initial application to receiving the final offer. It was one of the most clear, thoughtful, and well-structured interview processes I've experienced. The recruiting team was communicative, and there were no surprises, as they outlined exactly what to expect at each step. Phone Screen (30 minutes): The process began with a standard phone call with a recruiter to discuss my background, interest in Samsara, and the specifics of the role. The recruiter was friendly and did a great job explaining the overall interview structure. Manager Screen (30 minutes): This was an interview with the hiring manager. The conversation focused on my experience in more detail, how my skills aligned with the team's needs, and behavioral questions related to teamwork and past projects. Panel Interview (1.5 hours): This was the main technical and skills-based round, consisting of three back-to-back 30-minute sessions with different team members. The interviews were a mix of deep-dive questions into my area of expertise, practical problem-solving, and scenario-based questions. Director Level Interview (30 minutes): The final step was a conversation with a director. This was a higher-level discussion about my career goals, my understanding of Samsara's business, and my potential long-term fit within the organization. Pros: The recruiting team was exceptionally organized and kept me informed at every stage. The entire process was incredibly transparent. You know exactly what to expect, which helps you prepare. The interviewers were smart, prepared, and genuinely seemed interested in my experience. The questions felt relevant to the actual work, not just random brain teasers. Cons: The back-to-back panel interview can be intense, even in shorter sessions. Expectations are high in every round. Advice for Candidates: Because the process is so transparent, you have to be even more prepared. Knowing the format isn't an edge because every other candidate knows it too. Samsara relies heavily on the STAR-based interview style. It is critical to prepare 3-4 detailed stories that align with the interview's focus so you can clearly speak to them. Practice articulating the situation, task, action, and result for your key projects before your interviews.
