I applied through a recruiter. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at SSP Innovations (Denver, CO) in May 2025
Interview
Apply online a month ago. HR calls me, we talk. Salary is $160k to $200k. They want to move quickly. First call with HM, then set up group meeting if goes well. HR assures me the HM is engaged and collaborative.
45 minute video with HM.
Their core vertical is Utility Networks, so I focused 20 minutes on the challenges the UN are facing in electrical and plumbing, how my background relates, etc. Only near the end does HM it is for the Telco market, which is new to them (I spent 25 years in Telco, which is not new to me). I asked if I could then expand on Telco, and was told there is no need, I surely have the expertise.
-tell me about yourself or give me your 30 second commercial (that with my resume wide open)
-how do you manage two customers that need results, and one is screaming about it?
- As a product manager, what happens if you have a product not ready, but the deadline is approaching? MVP vs MMP vs. Marketable.
Near end, HM says first round now, will know more in a week or so for second round. I said I though the position has been opened for a few months. HM said it has, only getting around to it in the past week. Also, if you make it to the next round, you will then take one of the personality tests.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Starts with tell me about yourself or tell me your 30 second commercial.
Keep answering the question, hoping one response triggers some insight or further depth.
I applied through a recruiter. The process took 6 weeks. I interviewed at SSP Innovations in May 2024
Interview
One phone screening with recruiter, 2 virtual interviews- one with hiring manager and one panel interview with hiring manager and three other team members.
It took two weeks to schedule the panel interview which was a bit frustrating.
In between the interview with the hiring manager and panel interview, I was asked to complete a “PM Exercise” that they said would take less than 90 minutes to create 4 deliverables. This took much longer than 90 minutes and I submitted it within 3 business days. No one mentioned these deliverables again after I sent them and it was not brought up in the panel interview.
Panel interview was standard and felt comfortable speaking to everyone.
Ghosted after 2 weeks and zero feedback. Really disheartening especially when the head of recruiting reached out to me and hyped up this position and the likelihood of getting hired.

Question 1
How do you know when you have a good project schedule?
I applied through a recruiter. I interviewed at SSP Innovations (Miami, FL) in Jan 2022
Interview
I applied and had my step 1 interview for this position in December 2021. I had my last interview in January 2022. The steps to the hiring process, as described to me are:
1. speak with recruiter
2. speak with hiring manager
3. complete a case study assignment and conduct a round robin interview with 3-4 senior members of teh team to discuss your responses and rationale
4. discuss company culture with a panel of team members outside of project management and do a 15 minute presentation to the group on a submit of your choice
I made it to step 3. I then received an email saying that they decided to focus on hiring several junior level candidates instead. This, after they made a big deal throughout the process of wanting strong, senior level project managers.
I was also told that they work through their hiring process very quickly, however, the position had been posted on their site since October 2021. I strongly suspect that they were gathering information from senior PMs so that they could train junior level PMs, who they would pay significantly less money.
