I applied in-person. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at SEIU Local 221 (San Diego, CA) in May 2020
Interview
This was awhile ago, but the President and Deputy of Bargaining were 20 minutes late while I sat in the lobby. Finally, the interview basically consisted of them trying to talk me out of the job because of the high turnover rate of college grads. Finally, they asked me to type a professional letter (to see if I had basic human skills)? The look on my face had them waive that requirement and I was hired two days later after calling to follow up.

Interview
Brief. They are anxious to hire and ask standard questions about your commitment to the labor movement, organizing experience, willingness to work long and irregular hours. Expect to be brought in at entry level or a little bit higher. Usually they have one interview; sometimes two depending on the need and position. Generally, the more they like your personality the better.
