I should have done more research about the company before agreeing to interview. Upon arriving I was asked to complete an application and then a handwritten personality assessment (for a DIGITAL marketing position). I was immediately turned off by this and thought about walking out, but decided that would be unprofessional and stuck it out. I spent 1 hr 45 min~ speaking with the CEO, although he mainly talked about himself and the company. We spoke very little about my experience, professional accomplishments, career goals, and aspirations. It was clear we had different ideas when it came to marketing. I have a thick skin, but CEO said a few things that caught me off guard regarding how porn websites and strip clubs market their services which I felt was inappropriate and not relevant (I don’t live under a rock, but this type of marketing is, in my opinion, cheap, tacky and definitely not my approach). I come from a high-end luxury and family-centric background. This is not a high-end company and they do not represent a strong product portfolio. As a woman, I’m not sure how I would feel working under this person. Further, I’m seeking a more senior-level role with advancement and growth opportunities. This was definitely not it. The interview ended abruptly. I never like to say a bad word about anyone or their business, however, this was not a great use of my time. I took time off from my current job to interview with this company. The CEO did not have a copy of my resume, fortunately, I always bring an extra copy though I’ve never had to provide it to anyone in a previous interview. This was disrespectful to me and I felt like my time was wasted.
