Initially, there was a phone interview. This was followed by a typed PR assessment, which took place in the office another day. Personality assessments followed. There was an in-person interview that wrapped up the process.
I applied online. The process took 5 days. I interviewed at Ripley PR (Knoxville, TN) in Aug 2021
Interview
A phone interview, a written assessment, two personality assessments, and an in person interview is the process. Written assessment is developed by Heather Ripley herself and pertains to the type of work you would do working for her company.

Interview
This was the strangest “interview” process I’ve ever encountered. I had one 30 min phone call with President Bill Mattern. After which I was invited to take their assessment. When I arrived I was immediately put in a room by myself to take the test, he was not interested in speaking with me in person at all. The 2-hour timed test consisted of 30 essay questions and 75ish (I think) multiple choice. Bill claimed most people finish in 90 minutes which I believe is a lie. I was not able to complete the test in 2 hours. The essay style questions include writing full press releases. There is no way to complete this at the level of quality I would hope they would want from their employees. I was told to let myself out when I finished, so the amount of face-to-face time I had with them was maybe 5 minutes. This was a terrible experience and really rubbed me the wrong way. I don’t fault them for wanting to test prospective employees, but why they do so before even having a proper in-person interview is beyond me. This experience told me everything I needed to know and I have no interest in working here. I have since accepted another offer at the salary Bill baulked at. Good riddance.
