Thank you for the thoughtful feedback. While we are indeed growing, and have hired more people in the last few years than all the previous ones combined, it's true that we are still a technology service company at heart, and not one that claims to have mastered the fine art of the interview process.
In full transparency, there are almost as many ways to interview as there are people to interview, and each unique combination of technical expertise and personality/attitude may lead us to compose a different interview process, based on who may be best suited to uncover the information we need from each candidate.
I hear you on the transparency front too - everyone is going to see that one differently. I very much used to hold the view that what happens behind the scenes, and what customers/employees/candidates are made aware of, are necessarily two different things. And while it does hold true that there are plenty of things that people in those groups may have no interest in knowing, I've otherwise evolved my thinking to be that each and every person is innately empowered to have and express their own perspectives. It may not always be pretty, but in this case it proved just as helpful as anything - it showed you something about the environment that doesn't resonate with you, and I'm glad you had the opportunity to learn that before receiving an offer, so you could have as much information as possible to make a decision.
