I applied online. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Quo (Toronto, ON) in Aug 2023
Interview
I got scheduled for a quick call with recruiter and it went well. Took one week for the feedback and got rejected. Not sure what was wrong. My profile was aligned with the role and interview went well.
I applied through a recruiter. I interviewed at Quo (Montreal, QC) in May 2026
Interview
The process was as follows:
1. 30-minute call with the recruiter.
2. 1-hour Team Matching Interview: a conversation with a Senior Director of Engineering covering my experience and some behavioural questions.
3. 1-hour Technical Interview: a live debugging session with a Senior Engineer and a Staff Engineer.
4. 1-hour Values & Product Sense Interview: a discussion with an Engineering Manager focused on situational and behavioural questions.
5. 1-hour System Design Interview with a Senior Engineer.
The entire process spanned roughly three weeks, though it could likely be completed more quickly depending on your availability. Interviews 3–5 were scheduled over a Wednesday and Thursday, and I received feedback the following week. Overall, the turnaround was very fast.
For interviews 3–5, the recruiter provided detailed preparation material outlining what to expect and how to prepare. I would strongly recommend following those guidelines and giving yourself enough time to prepare, as they accurately reflect the interview format and expectations.
Overall, it was one of the best interview experiences I've had. I was interviewing with another company during the same period, and the difference in approach from both the recruiters and interviewers was striking. There was a very human element throughout the process that further reinforced my interest in the opportunity.
Everyone I spoke with was thoughtful, welcoming, and genuinely enjoyable to interact with. At no point did I feel like interviewers were trying to prove themselves technically or "stump" candidates. The conversations were collaborative, respectful, and ego-free.
The recruiter was especially great throughout the process: responsive, proactive with follow-ups, generous with preparation resources, and consistently encouraging from start to finish.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Live debugging - Application with bugs to identify and fix
System design - Improve a given system design already made
I applied through a recruiter. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Quo in Sept 2025
Interview
The interview process at Quo was fair, thorough, and enjoyable, one that adopts modern interviewing methodologies very effectively. It's clear they have invested significant time in developing their interview process to dynamically evaluate experience, capability, and culture fit in a post-AI world.
At every step, Quo dedicates resources from their teams to engage highly with candidates, regardless of which segment of their multi-phase interview process you're moving through.
The questions are challenging because they expect a high standard from their team, but all questions are relevant and designed to ensure you are well-prepared and can bring your best self forward.
Prior to the interview (dependent on your position, and time of interviewing), Quo provides you with a very detailed describe of each interview and what they will entail. Mine did not deviate far from that, it comprised of; A technical evaluation, a systems design test, and a product sense conversation.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Q1. Walk me through the technical specifications of 1-2 projects you have delivered or been heavily involved in delivering.
Q2. Work with me to improve this architecture with these specifications we have been given.
Q3. Tell me about your philosophies and experiences with these different scenarios.
The interview process was very straightforward, quick, and overall very pleasant. The process generally consisted of a phone screen with the recruiter, a discussion with the manager, and then a virtual on-site consisting a 4 calls for: technical fit, team and values interview, system design, and product sense interview.
Everyone I spoke with seemed to be both friendly and knowledgeable. Every call felt like the interviewer(s) were genuinely trying to assess if I'm a good fit (instead of trying to trick me or find a quick reason to rule me out as a candidate). There were no trick questions and the interviewers did not nitpick small details, but instead focused on assessing overall understanding/experience.
The recruiters and interviewers were also very flexible and willing to accommodate various scheduling conflicts and changes. The recruiter I worked with was particularly awesome, specially with being quick, informative, approachable, and understanding. General timeline from application to offer was about 3-4 working weeks (not counting the holiday season).
Overall, I had a good experience and felt confident that this would be a great company to work at by the time I received an offer.
